CHR hosts University of Pretoria LLM students

On 6 April 2010, the Centre for Human Rights and Development organised a braai for visiting LLM Students from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. In attendance were legal practitioners, attorneys, law students from the University of Swaziland, a representative of the National Law Society and other NGO representatives. The event was held at the Ezulwini Valley at the residence of CHR's Angelo Dube. Dube is an alumnus of the LLM Programme, presented by the Faculty of Law through the Centre for Human Rights in Pretoria.

The LLM Students came from countries such as South Africa, Liberia, Nigeria, Kenya, Botswana, Malawi and Ethiopia. They were accompanied by John Wilson and Solomon Ebobrah from the Centre for Human Rights (Pretoria), as well as Dr Teplan from the European Court of Human Rights.

The national Law Society was represented by attorney Nkosinathi Manzini, whilst other attorneys came in their personal capacities. Also in attendance was Magistrate Jo Gumede. The UNISWA Students Law Society was also represented by its President Gcina Mhlanga who was accompanied by his executive committee members.

The gathering offered an opportunity for the visiting LLM Students to interact with local lawyers and law students and discuss human rights issues. It also offered our visitors a chance to do interviews on their topics of research.
